Constantine
WDYT of Constantine? I love the idea of using it for a boy, but is that even worth considering? Do you think it is usable on a boy today, or do you view it as just a girls' name? Constantina for a girl, maybe? Thanks in advance!April

Constantine is a nice, sturdy and uncommon name, but I think I'd prefer Konstantinos, as it packs bit more punch.

Constantine is my dentist's first name. He and his wife have a baby boy named Constantine. When I first heard it, the name seemed quite unusual to me, but not odd.

It can't see it on a girl at all. I love it on a boy. One of my longest-running fav boys' combos is Ezra Constantine.

I automatically think "male" when I hear the name Constantine. How about Constance for a girl?

Firstly I think this is a great name. Strong, and extremely masculine, imo. I could never picture a girl with Constantine (Constantina or Constantia, yes).

Ralph: What did she says the play is called?
Leroy: 'Christmas Pageant.'
Ollie: That's no name. That's what it is.
Gladys: I know a name. I'd called it 'Revenge at Bethlahem.'

Constantine reminds me of the movie Constantine. I love the movie, but not too fond of the name.

I think American Idol.I also dated a Constantine. I love it. I think it's quite cute, and much better suited for a boy.

I love Constantine for a boy! It's so handsome and elegant. Why should one consider it "girly" anyways? I find it very masculine myself, and couldn't even begin to imagine it on a girl. I really like Constantina on a girl, though, too.

I've never met one, and most of my associations come from the beautiful SoCo song "Konstantine" - which refers, yes, to a girl.People might know it as a male name from that terrible film "Constantine", mind ... Assuming that was Keanu Reeves' character's name and not some abstract reference. God, what a dreadful film ...Either way (on either sex, I mean), I think you could pull it off. I like Constantina as a middle name myself._____________________________________________________________________Elinor

I've heard that Constantine was positively awful. The title refers to Keanu Reeve's character's surname; his full name is John Constantine, and he's originally from the DC Comics series Hellblazer (published under the Vertigo imprint, just like V for Vendetta)....Just please, don't ask me how I can recite all this off the top of my head when I've never even read Hellblazer, lol.Array

I think that Constantine would be usable for a boy these days (in fact I like the name). Constantine does not seem feminine to me (but I also like Constantina for a girl).

Constantine doesn't seem feminine at all. I think of John Constantine from DC comics, and of the Konstantin (?) on American Idol. Oh, and Emperor Constantine. Constantina, Constance, and Constancia could all be used on a girl. Constantine is firmly masculine in my mind, and I would love to meet one someday.Array

In my country it would be Constantin for a boy, and Constance for a girl, although Constantine, like Valentine, could very well be accepted as girl name...

I agree. I have always thought it was an incredibly strong sounding name on a guy, but my family only thinks of Constance or Constantina when they hear the name so they associate it with girls.

There's a song by Something Corporate about a girl named Konstantine. Cute song, but an unfortunate name. I suppose I'm biased though, because I love my boy's name and he is so strong and Constantine fits him so nicely.Anyway, maybe you could familiarize your relatives with the Roman emperor and saint and long series of royal men named Constantine. Also the Hellblazer main character, John Constantine. :)
