Lila?
What do you think of the name Lila pronounced like Lily but with an a instead of a y? What about the combo Lila Mei? Or would Lily Mei sound better?

Hmm...I absolutely adore Lila (pronounced LY-luh) and Lily, but I'm not sure how I feel about the "Lilla" pronounciation. It intrigues me, but it sort of comes across as some sort of weird hybrid - like the person just couldn't choose. How about Liliana? You could throw around quite a few nicknames with that one, even Lilla on occassion. What about Laila (LAY-luh, although it can be pronounced like LY-luh) or Leila (LEE-luh)?

I would agree that spelling it Lilla would solve many prn. problems. Lilla Mei is so adorable. I love that spelling. I also like Lilla Minh. Generate Your Own Glitter Graphics @ GlitterYourWay.com - Image hosted by ImageShack.us

Hmm, I prefer Lila to be pronounced either LIE-la or LEE-la. However, the sound of LIL-a isn't bad. I would spell it Lilla to reflect that pronunciation though.Lilla Mei & Lily Mei are both lovely : )

Pronounced that way, it would be Lilla (or at least that spelling would make more sense, imo).

If you want it to sound like LIH-luh, spell it Lilla. More people will guess the pronunciation, though you'd have to do quite a bit of correcting anyhow.Lilla Mei would be pretty (though I far prefer May and Mae).Array

My first impulse is to pronounce Lila like 'leye-lah'. The only other pronounciation I can accept is 'lee-lah'. 'lihl-ah' might be stretching it a bit. If you like that pronunciation, I think it best to go with Lily Mei.

Lila looks somehow incomplete to me. I much prefer Lilah.

I love the name Lila, although I prefer it spelt Lilah (I have a thing for the letter H). Lila Mei is very, very pretty, and I personally think it sounds better than Lily Mei.[ETA] Oh, I was mispronouncing the name. Is it Lila as in "LIL-ah"? That's quite sweet, although I prefer the "LIE-lah" prounounciation. I still think Lila Mei sounds better, with either pronounciation.

I've always liked the name Lila (lye-la), but prefer it spelled Lilah. I think Lila pronounced like Lily is really though! I think I like it just as much as Lilah. Why do I have to decide what to do with my life now? Can't I go back to bed until I'm 30 and decide then?

I don't like Lila in any pronounciation but I would think you would have to do a lot of correcting if you use the LIL-ah pronouncation. Lily Mei is cute as is Lillian Mei, Liliana Mei or Leila Mei

I don't particularly care for Lila pronounced LIL-a, but I love it when it's pronounced LIE-la. It seems like she will constantly have to correct people if you use the LIL-a pronunciation. I think that you should just go with Lily Mei. How about Lillian Mei or Lillia / Lilia Mei nn Lily?
