Calum
How do you pronounce Calum? Cay-lum? Cail-um? Cah-lum? Some other way? And how do you like it and the nn Cal? I'm thinking of adding it to my short list. TIAEden

CAHL-UM. I like Cal and Calum. I prefer Caleb though.

I love the name, personally. I've mostly seen it spelled Callum and prefer this spelling (not sure why). I pronounce it like CAL-uhm (like column with a short "a" instead of a short "o"). Cal is a cute nn for occasional use, but I prefer Callum.

I think Kah-lum is a great name, and love the nn Cal.

I really like it, because it's uncommon but not too "out there." I usually spell it Callum, but Calum is also nice. I pronounce it Cah-lum. Cal is a great nn, and so is Cale if you pronounce it Cay-lum.

Calum is definitely one of my favorites.I pronounce it Cah-lum.The nickname Cal is alright, but why shorten a simple and beautiful name like Calum? Leave it as it is I say.

It's pronounced KA-lum, with a short "a" like in "cat". Calum / Callum, usually with nn Cal, is one of the most overused boys' names here at the moment, but if it weren't for that, I think I'd really like it. So if it's unusual where you live, then definitely a good choice :-)

And :) Just looked...it's not in the top 1000 names here.

Alsoyou're British, right? Or Scottish. Sorry, I never can remember! So, you probably pronounce cat a bit softer than we ugly americans do. :)
Maybe, then, Americans pronounce it differently than the British.

Lol, yes, Scottish. The accent is soft, but come to think of it, I've never heard Calum pronouncedby an an American, so it's hard to tell :-)

I've only heard of onehere (though I'm sure there are a lot more)and that was an internet friend's son's name. Is it a lot more popular than Finlay/Finley there?

There are no Finley's my age at all (I'm almost 18) but just recently it's soared! Spelled Finlay, it's in the early 30s now, and is still growing :-( A shame, because I love it. Luckily for you though, Finley hasn't ranked in the States for decades - I'll keep my fingers crossed it stays that way!
