Sullivan
Normally I don't like surnames as first names, but I like this name. When I was pregnant for the second time, this was the name I was going to use no matter what the gender. While I was pregnant, I had a dream that I could not name her Sullivan, because I wanted the name for myself. When I saw my dd, I just could not name her such a L-O-N-G name!! She was so tiny!!
Anyhow, I was wondering what you all thought of the name Sullivan for a girl (meaning me). It would represent not only Sully from Monsters, Inc (I have always wanted a Disney name...some people call me Disney), but also the 5 Sullivan brothers, who were all killed during WW2. Can you imagine?? Mom, your 5 sons were killed!!!??
I am not a big nickname person, but am thinking that such a name would include nicknames.
Sully/Sulley
Liv
What else??

I work with someone who adopted a little girl from China and named her Sullivan. Everyone at work loves the little girl but secretly we all hate this name!
Not sure why you want to change your name, but Sully/Sullivan is not particularly attractive on a male or a female imo. (and apparently I'm not alone)

I dislike it for two reasons: 1) using someone else's family name as a first name seems like stealing to me; and 2) Sully is not attrative on a boy or a girl - the dictionary definition is to soil, dirty or defile. Not a nice name to give your daughter.

As opposed to most people on the board,I do like surname names for boys, but I just can't see this name on a girl at all. I think it would be really cute for a boy, especially if you're honoring the Sullivan brothers. I don't care if someone is using a surname that isn't in their family tree, but I think it makes it extra special if it is or if it is honoring someone.

Sorta agree ...I like this surname for boys only, but I think surnames as first names are really cool and, if used wisely, aren't uber trendy ...
as opposed to the "Mikenzi hating crew":) who are obessed w/ those few who overuse & radify surnames!!! Like all names, I love some & hate others :)!!!!!!

I think Sullivan is very cute for a boy. I've only heard it used once, but I really like it. Sully is a cute nickname.I dont really like it for a girl - I don't find it at all feminine. And personally, I prefer nicknames that are really obvious - so that you can normally tell what the persons full name is. I don't really think you could pull anything obvious aside from Sully & Liv from Sullivan!
