Hamlyn and Gentry
WDYTO Hamlyn and Gentry, both on boys?

I'll be polite.
I think you need to look up the meaning of Gentry. Second: Ham is not something nice to have in one's name, and lyn is quite feminine.

What would Gentry's mn be, Proletariat? Aristocracy? Peasantry? Bourgeoisie?
Sorry to be snide, but I just can't take Gentry seriously as a name. I went to college with a Gentry, a girl, and I thought it was a silly name then.
Hamlyn has the trendy "y" that irritates me. But what I don't like about it more is that it reminds me of that children's tale, "The Pied Piper of Hamelin." Creepy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pied_Piper
I like unusual names too. Just not these.

Well, Hamlyn looks feminine to me because of the y. Both sound like surnames, and I definately don't like the ham sound. I dislike both names, but Gentry doesn't bother me quite as bad as Hamlyn.
Sounds like a country music duo :-/
The only Gentry I have known was a girl. I think it could work for both genders. Is Hamlyn prn. like "ham" or "haym"? The ham sound bothers me.
I'm really not sure...I know his mother over the internet, and I've never asked. I've always said "ham".
