One of my cats is Lewis (my husband is a big Lewis & Clark fan), and everybody thinks he's Louis, or even worse, Louise or other female versions. It bugs me because I agree - the Lewis spelling is much nicer.
I don't think it has an old man image at all, I think it would be very nice on a little boy, and it would stay nice as he grew older.
Can't pull any names out of my hat at the moment, but I think it'd be as good a a MN. Just think it'd be extra nice as a FN, because I can't recall last time I met a Lewis ( apart from the cat, and my husband keeps telling me that one does not meet animals.)
