The name is dropping in popularity, but it's still common. My name is Jessica, and I've never liked being called Jessie (I don't mind being called Jess though). While I was growing up, I had to share my name with at least one classmate during the majority of my school years, which bothered me. Not only was it confusing, but I just felt like my name was really boring. I still wish that I had been given a less common name.
