I hate Benjamin, so for me its the perfect alternative & I can still have my Ben. It seems kind of preppy, but since its wouldn't be used every day it would never be over the top - just something unique.

I think this is so nice. :) I wouldn't use a nickname. You *could* use Ben, but then it's not very unique to name him Bennett. You might as well name him Benjamin. Bennett doesn't need a nn anyway. It's short enough, and it can really stand on its own. I really like it.

Its OK. Of Ben names, I much prefer Benjamin, though. Bennett doesn't have nearly as much charm, but maybe that's because the only Bennett I knew was kind of cad. That makes me imagine one whenever I hear this name.

I love Bennet (prefer that spelling, or Benet) for either gender. It was borne by both men and women - as the medieval form of both Benedictus and Benedicta.

I LOVE LOVE Bennett!! One of my favourite names! If I'd use a nn, I'd use Ben.

I really like it! (There's a great character named Bennett in Connie Willis' book "Bellwether"). I'd use Ben as a nickname but I like the full name.

I really like Bennett. If I were to use a nn for it I'd choose Ben.

Normally I don't really like surnames that sound extremely surname-y (I.E. Mackenzie, Carson, Lexington) but I don't think Bennett is that bad. I think it could work well as a first name. Ben is an optional nn but I think Bennett in full is nice.
