I just think it looks more complete and I always think of Clare as in County Clare in Ireland (which wouldn't be most people's first reaction, but it is mine) and I don't like place names all that much. For me there is also the familiarity of Claire as it is my cousin's name so I am biased :p

I do like Claire spelt either way though...it is a very nice name :)
