I love this name, it's strong and masculine and you very rarely hear it.

I love Jonah and am trying to convince dh that we should use it as a back up name for this baby, but he won't go for it. I know a Jonah and he does NOT go by Joe.~Erin Lee, wife of Matthew James, mama to Sarah Patrice (11/29/04) and Dos (due sometime in late February or early March)~

I adore Jonah! I agree about not liking Joe, though.

I like it.I also like Jonas, though I prefer Jonah.
I think it sounds great by itself, no nn needed.

It's been growing on me, and I rather like it. I wouldn't use it though, but it's nice. I don't like Joe either.

I love the name Jonah. I mentioned it to my DH, he thinks it sounds feminine. But I don't. I wouldn't worry about a NN, it's only two syllables anyway.

I really like Jonah and also Jonas for a boy, both are strong and masculine yet are also cute! I wouldn't use the nn Joe for either I'd just call him Jonah. But if you must has a nn what about Jon or Jonny? I also like Josiah and Josias. :)

Jonah's short enough that you certainly wouldn't have to call him Joe--just make sure everyone's informed that he's a Jonah. And understand that if he later decides he'd rather go by Jo(e), that's his prerogative.I think Jonah's very handsome--and I love the meaning--but I prefer Jonas slightly. It's on account of The Giver. :)Array
