In the US, people would probably reach for Maddie first much like people seem to want to use Gabby as a nick for Gabrielle. There are, however, several nns that can be derived from Madeleine: Addie, Dell, Leine, Leinie, etc.I'm with you and prefer Madeleine.

Would you pronounce Leine as "Line", "Leen" or "Lynn"?
I've just heard so many pronunciations of the poor name that I'm hoping we're on the same page.

I understand the Madeleine spelling to be pronounced like mad-uh-LENN. I guess that's the terribly French pronunciation, though. :b Most people, at least in the U.S., would just say MAD-uh-lynn, I think.
