British newspaper article
I'm posting the link to a British article that talks about unusual names in Britain and lists the top 10 unusual names as:
Mylos (b)
Kofi (b)
Spike (b)
Franco (I'm guessing b)
Blade (b)
Fds (g)
Kiki (g)
Bronte (g)
Luna (g)
Kadence (g)
I didn't think Franco was an uncommon name. What's going on with Fds's parents, I wonder.

Replies
Mylos (b) - I like it
Kofi (b) - Fine, imo
Spike (b) - Ok as a nn, I guess, but awful as a given name. :(
Franco (I'm guessing b) - Nothing wrong with it
Blade (b) - Ridiculous if a given name
Fds (g) - So if this is in the top 10, does that mean more than one child has this name in Britain?? All I can think of is (besides, 'how the hell do you pronounce that?') is FDS Feminine Deodorant Spray. :-/ Maybe that's a U.S. thing, though. Hopefully.
Kiki (g) - Ok as a nn
Bronte (g) - Ok but not a favorite
Luna (g) - Like it
Kadence (g) - Horrible, but fairly popular in the U.S. (ugh)

Where did you post this link?
I suppose the "Top Ten" designation is simply one of those "Top Ten" lists that the writers or editors of magazines come up with based on their own personal preferences. Just a meaningless bit of fluff journalism.
Bronte is evidently now not unusual as a given name in Australia.

How can you have the "top ten unusual names"? Surely that's a bit contradictory?
Mylos (b) - Looks like a mangling of Miles / Myles.
Kofi (b) - Annan?
Spike (b) - Something sharp, a dog or a vampire.
Franco (I'm guessing b) - Not bad, although it does remind me of Francisco Franco (spanish dictator).
Blade (b) - Again, something sharp. Isn't Blade a film?
Fds (g) - No idea what this is supposed to be.
Kiki (g) - A parrot.
Bronte (g) - Not sure about this one. It sounds masculine, but at the same time reminds me of the Bronte sisters.
Luna (g) - Nice sound, but very Harry Potter.
Kadence (g) - Nms with a C, even worse with a K.
p.s. Where's the link?
