Channing seems OK to me as a given name, but I would definitely prefer it for a boy, not a girl. There is a well-known male professional basketball player in the USA named Channing Frye:

I like Channing quite a bit! I think a more traditional middle name like David or William would go nicely with it.
Channing is my very favorite girls name, but I never had a girl. I absolutely love Channing Mariah....
I don't really like -ing names as first names, as they sound far too verby to me (I chan, you chan, he/she chans . . . I channed, I will chan, I am channing).

How about Kipling?(m)
Q.-Do you like Kipling?
A.-I don't know, I've never kipped.

Lol . . .
Very good, except according to English language logic it would have to be "I don't know, I've never kippled" :-D
(Pedantic? Me?)
They're fine as surnames, since verbs as surnames are somewhat logical, but I don't like verb-form words as first names.

I dislike Channing very much. Sounds like a last name, and not an attractive one at that. Sorry, but to each his own. I can't think of any combos :(
I would only like this name if it were a family last name. Otherwise, it just sounds contrived to me. I knew a little girl named Channing, with a little sister named Chanel (nickname Coco). My parents & I made jokes about the family...it just seemed really tacky, but that of course has to do with the theme. Alone, Channing would be less annoying.
