I think...(m)

I haven't given my nickname rant for a while, so here we go. I apply this to anybody who stresses over what nicknames to use, but this time, Amelia just happens to be my name.
My parents had always said they were going to call me Amy. But when I was born, my dad changed his mind and said that I would NEVER be called Amy. But my grandfather insisted on calling me that, so I spent my childhood hearing both. For a certain period of my life, I decided that I'd rather be called Amy--Amelia was unusual and I wanted to fit in. But I outgrew it. Now, most people call me by name, but I occaisonally go by Lia.
So, my point: You don't HAVE to pic a nickname. You can call her all of them or none of them, but in the end, she gets to decide what she wants to be called. Don't overthink it--it's just not worth stressing over.

I'm sure everyone either agrees or disagrees with it! That's the nature of opinions :) As a person who never had a nickname I always felt kind of bummed out about it. Each of our personal experiences helps us form our opinions on various subjects. By telling me that in your opinion thinking about nicknames is a waste of time, isn't going to make me think that as well, just like if I told you you should always consider nicknames when picking a name, it wouldn't sway you at all. Thanks for your thoughts though.
I didn't say you shouldn't consider nicknames when picking a name. I'm just saying I agree with the prev. poster that you shouldn't stick with one nickname. Because even if you have your mind set on using a nickname, odds are that child is going to have several different nicknames from several different people, and in the end, he/she will go by whichever one they like best. I just don't think you should let your opinion of a name be swayed based on whether or not it has any nicknames you like.
