Carmel?
I saw the name Carmel Elisabeth on a BA post here a few weeks ago and I'm beginning to like it - even though Carmel makes me think of the word caramel, which could be a problem.WDYT of Carmel?

It's okay. I prefer Carmella, which is gorgeous and gets around the caramel problem.

I'm a California girl, so Carmel brings to mind both Mission Carmel and its gorgeous touristy beach town. I just can't dig it for a girl. at least, not for a fn. Elisabeth Carmel might be pretty though.

I would pronounce it like car-MELL. I only like that pronunciation.

I don't like it. I knew a bitchy girl named Carmel and when I glanced at this subject title it looked like Camel.

I'm quite fond of this name. My mum had a collegue and she pronounced it as car-MEL. But this name could easily be mistaken for caramel though.

I love it . . .Yes, Carmel makes me think of Caramel, but not so much so that I wouldn't use it. "Caramel" isn't a huge teasing point either (not like it would be if it was a sexual reference).Carmel Elisabeth is just lovely.

ditto, Carmel just rolls of the lips.

It reminds me too much of candy, but Carmela or Carmella would be beautiful.

I think Carmel sounds beautiful and poetic and I love the meaning (garden).I think more of Carmen than of "caramel" but then English is not my language.- She said he made a racial slur!
- Racial? She is Swedish!
- Maybe he called her Meatball."I’ve given it a lot of thought, and I’ve decided to be spontaneous."

It definitely sounds like caramel. I would prefer Carmella.

I like the name. I went to High School with a girl named Carmela and I like the association with Our Lady of Mt. Carmel.

My brothers friend is married to a woman by this name. She goes by "Cam". I don't really like either =( And Elisabeth is just too filler for me.

It's not really my style... I makes me think of caramel as well, and I don't know why, but it doesn't really sound like a name to me for some reason. =/Tracy
