Caroline/Carolyn
I've really been liking them lately. They have, in my IMO, an old southern charm to them, and the nn Carrie can be used for both of these names. Which name do you prefer and WDYT of these names?

I prefer Caroline. I don't mind Carolyn, but it doesn't sound as pretty and classic as Caroline. It also sounds too much like carolin' (like the word 'caroling' without the 'G'). I hate it when people pronounce Caroline the same way as Carolyn. If you use Caroline, your daughter might be called Carolyn by mistake, but I don't think that it would happen all that often.
BTW Carrie is a cute nickname.

Only sometimes my daughter has been called Carolyn, but it hasn't been a proble. Although, a funny story was when I was in labor, we had told the nurse we were having a girl named Caroline and when I was pushing she was saying, "come on, Carolyn!" In the back of my head I was thinking "It's CaroLINE!" but I just didn't have the strength to correct her at the time!
I love Carolyn
I think they are both classic names.
I prefer Carolyn b/c it sounds softer and more like the original French pronunciation.
- She said he made a racial slur!
- Racial? She is Swedish!
- Maybe he called her Meatball.
"I’ve given it a lot of thought, and I’ve decided to be spontaneous."

I prefer the Caroline spelling, but the Carolyn pronounciation. I love the NN Carrie, and actually, I prefer it on its own...one of my personal faves :)

I prefer Caroline. I don't care for names with the "lyn" ending.

I don't like this name at all. I can handle Carolina (Care-uh-leena) though, and I like the nn Carrie also.
