Twins' names I've seen (all girls)
Anna and Maria: Perfect. Both names are very popular, same style but not too similar
Sandra and Cecilia: Less predictable. Sounds nice and not too similar, even though they begin with the same sound.
Erika and Mailani: Does not even sound like sisters. I don't know where Mailani comes from. It looks Hawaiian but such names are not common in Sweden. This name is truly unique in Sweden
- She said he made a racial slur!
- Racial? She is Swedish!
- Maybe he called her Meatball.
"I’ve given it a lot of thought, and I’ve decided to be spontaneous."

I really like the combo Erika and Mailani. They're both really pretty names, and I think it is even better that they're NOT similar to each other. Twins - especially if they're identical ones - will have enough identity problems throughout their life as it is. That's why they should have dissimilar names. Cause people will often call them "the twins", as opposed to call them by their names. Similar names will not help.
I like siblings names which go together
So why not twins too? But I don't like when they are too similar, but I don't think any of these are.
Besides only about 1/3 of twins are identical, the rest are fraternal and not more similar than other siblings.
While I like both Erika and Mailani, I don't think they go together. Erika makes me think of a girl with sand-coloured hair while I picture someone dark and exotic with Mailani's name.
I do remember a pair of identical twins, named Mari and Anne. They really hated being called "the twins". But this may happen whatever the names.
