I love the name. I like it spelled Maryn, too. Because it is a variation of Mary, I think it works with that spelling. Normally I'm not a fan of the 'add a y' trend.

I like Maren. I don't think you have to be Danish or Norwegian to use it. I also like Marin for a girl.

I love Maren and thinks its a beautiful name. I also love Marian (this spelling). A friend of my sister's just had a baby and named her Maren. I definetely think it works for someone of non Danish or Norwegian heritage. But I love ethnic names and wouldn't hesitate to use them no matter what my heritage was.

I adore Maren, it's one of my top ten for a future DD! :)
It does seem like a twist on Marian/Marion, which gives it a medieval feel, while it is a form of Marina. My grandmother's name was Maria, and using Maren would be honoring her without having yet _another_ Maria in the family.

I'm not Danish or Norwegian and I used Merryn. I don't think the spelling really matters either. It's perfectly pronouncable in English and it's easy to spell and it's not distinctly Scandinavian.
I think it's a great choice.

Maren is alright. I prefer Marina. I think it's perfectly acceptale to use that name even if you are not Danish or Norweigen or the like. I also love Marion (spelled like this, as it was the nme of my grandmother)
