Maren (sorry for double post =/)
Maren has been on my mind lately. I think it's a nice twist on the old-fashioned Marion, which I've also loved my whole life. Wdyt? Do you think someone has to be Danish or Norwegian in order to use it? Thanks a lot :)
People, in general, would rather die than forgive. It's that hard. If God said in plain language, "I'm giving you a choice, forgive or die," a lot of people would just go ahead and order their coffin.

I love the name. I like it spelled Maryn, too. Because it is a variation of Mary, I think it works with that spelling. Normally I'm not a fan of the 'add a y' trend.
I love Maren and thinks its a beautiful name. I also love Marian (this spelling). A friend of my sister's just had a baby and named her Maren. I definetely think it works for someone of non Danish or Norwegian heritage. But I love ethnic names and wouldn't hesitate to use them no matter what my heritage was.
I adore Maren, it's one of my top ten for a future DD! :)
It does seem like a twist on Marian/Marion, which gives it a medieval feel, while it is a form of Marina. My grandmother's name was Maria, and using Maren would be honoring her without having yet _another_ Maria in the family.
My fave combos are:
Maren Alexandra
Maren Elise
Maren Isobel
Maren Isolde
