Re: Serena & Corinna.

I love each of these as they have become favorites of mine in the last year or so. I must have missed your other post on this but I'm curious to see what everyone thinks of these two since I love them as well.
I tend to lean more towards Corinna anyway, but given the fact that she'd have a sister named Helena, I prefer Helena and Corinna to Helena and Serena. They just look so similar that I'm tempted to pronounce Helena as he-LEEN-a. They may not rhyme but they *look* like they rhyme. Hope that makes sense.
Re: Corinne, I like it very much also. Still, I prefer Corinna because I feel it has a better chance of being pronounced the way I do.
WDYT of Marie Elisabeth? I'm just thinking since the combo is so French, why not spell Elizabeth the French way, Elisabeth?
EDA that I also pronounce CorInna and SerEna with a long 'e' sound.

Because I'm using Marie to honour my mother (it's her middle name) and Elizabeth to honour my grandmother (it's her middle name but she uses it as her first). Plus, Elizabeth is my middle name as well so I'm partial to it.
I've been told Corinna or Serena are both too close for a sibling to Helena. We're using the He-LAY-na pronunciation. I'll admit that visually they are similar and the endings are the same but other than that they really aren't that close to me. It makes me sad, because Helena has a lot of meaning to me and I don't think my hubbie will let Serena go. Hmm. THis is hard.

Well, if Helena is that meaningful to you, then I'd say it's not the end of the world if Serena and Helena look similar. After all, their names would be pronounced differently and would be rarely listed together. I don't really think Serena and Helena are that close based on the way you're planning to pronounce them. Then again, I have a dd named AnNA and would likely name another dd MariNA and that doesn't bother me one bit.
Personally, if Helena had a lot of meaning to me, I'd let my dh have Serena if it made him happy. Unfortunately, my dh doesn't care for Corinna or Serena. :-(
