To me, the h in the end really matters; I love the name Lilah, whereas I don't care much for Lila. I don't have the same problem with other similar names, like Dina/Dinah, Nora/Norah, or Sara/Sarah.
Lila has always seemed rather dull to me. It's not a hideously ugly name or anything, but I've just never seen any appeal in it because it somehow seems very plain. I think adding the h in the end makes the spelling look more complete, which totally changes my opinion of the name. Lilah is a lovely, melodic, soft name, and just utterly gorgeous.
