Could one keep a Geneviève from being called Gen?

I think you could although I must tell you that our cat, Genevieve, is called Gen or Gen Gen all the time! Still, if you make a point of not calling her Gen and tell others not to, you should be all right. Of course, there's no telling which name she'll wish to call herself at a later date.

I've only met one Genevieve. She was called Gen when younger but always goes by Genevieve now. I think it's beautiful. There is talk about this name on babycenter and a few people have brought up the nicknames Eve, Evie and Neve which I hadn't thought of. Nicer than "Gen"!I think you can do it!

I know a Genevieve called Gen, but I say Genevieve more often. She doesn't mind, so yeah, I think you could get away with it.I don't see no shine,
today is just a daydream.
Tomorrow we'll be castaway...

I think so, though I like Gen as a nn for this. Gena, Genie, Neve, Vieve, Viva or my favorite, Viv, could replace Gen. Not sure if Viv would be contrived considering the alteration in the vowel sound... WDYT?

In the family, yes. At school, hard to say.Though to me a natural nn to Genevieve would be Eve.
