Murphy?
WDYT? Girl? Boy?

I like it, for a boy!

It does sound clownish, cute on a dog... or a funny cartoon character with a cartoonishly large nose? Also, I think of brown houndstooth pants. Not sure why. NEVER could I see this on a girl.

Today, boy. Too surnamey / clownish-seeming for my taste.

it's okay, nms and only for a boy
I don't care for it, but it's much better suited for a boy.
Murphy's Law and Murphy Brown....I'm not a fan.

I like it, but only on a boy!
In my childhood, I really liked the show Murphy Brown (at least before Miles left--after which I lost interest), but even that can't prevent me from thinking Murphy's a male name.
Now, Mary sounds very, very similar to Murphy imo, yet is an actual female name that is a lovely, solid classic with tons of namesakes. And it's virtually unheard-of as a first name for baby girls nowadays!

I find it ugly as sin, to be honest--but I'd much prefer it on a boy than a girl. I know a girl called Myrphy, and it seems so completely unflattering and unfortunate.

Ditto that (Myrphy is hideous!)
I don't really like it. Maybe as a mn and on a boy.

Boy only... And it's the name of the dog across the street. I see this as a last name/dog name only. It doesn't sound good as a first name to me. And it sounds frumpy on a little girl. Murphy, Murph. It sounds like (The English pronunciation of) Bertha, which is ugly to me. (The German way, BERH ta, is lovely!)
