Priscilla
I have really started to like this name a lot, so I wondered what others thought of Priscilla. I have even surprised myself by rather liking the nickname Cilla. Any comments (good and bad) will be appreciated.

I actually quite like it too. Cilla is rather a cute nn.

Cilla makes me think of...cilia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cilia
I also think of the three-headed sea monster, Scylla, from The Odyssey. Not quite the prettiest connotations a name could have...I do like Priscilla, though "priss" might be a little bothersome if she wound up being a tomboy! For nns, how about:
Prisca
Pria, Priya
Piri
Pippy
Pippa
Prilla

Thanks a lot!Yeah, the "priss" part kind of bothers me as well. And I don't think very many people would think of that sea monster so that doesn't bother me!My sister though of Prisca and it is rather cute (better than Prissy or Sissy). I also think Pippy would be good if she was a tomboy with red braids sticking straight out(think: Pippy Longstocking). LOL! Pippa is rather nice as well. Thanks once again!

Oh, gosh, I'm not the only one! (Mildly OT)I think of cilia, too, although for me, it's with the name Cecilia (hence while I prefer the Cecelia spelling, or just Cecily).I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks of the scientific term sometimes. I was feeling kind of geeky there. *g*Uh, anyways, my thoughts on Priscilla! I'm not a huge fan of this name-- the "priss" really bothers me-- but it could grow on me. I like Magenta's suggestions of nicknames, especially Priya and Pippa. :o)

I like it. I don't if I'd use it, but it's a good name. Not overly used, but not too "weird" either. "Instead of crying over spilled milk, go milk another cow." - Anonymous"There is no excellence without difficulty."

I like it but I have a couple of negative associations with it, incl. a mean old chainsmoking woman I know and Priscilla Presley (whom I just find annoying, lol). I like it in theory, though. I used to desperately want to name a cat Priscilla and call her Priscilla, Queen of the Desert all the time. :b Maybe I will someday, lol.

Priscilla is so nms. We had a cow named Priscilla(her mom was Lisa Marie and her granddad was Elvis) so I can't get over the association. I don't like Cilla either.Lilypie 1st Birthday PicLilypie 1st Birthday Ticker

I personally don't care for this name, or the nn Cilla. Someone I know named their daughter Priscilla and call her "Cilly," as in "silly." I don't like it at all!

Pris sounds prissy and illa is too insubstantial and frilly. I don't like the combination at all.

I used to dislike it, but I find I've warmed to it recently. It reminds me of the "Arthur" character, who was a little eccentric, but that's not a bad thing. Cilla is kind of cute. I like it. :)-------

I like it, but I wouldn't use it. And it makes me think of Elvis Presley's wife.~~~

I don't like it. It seems pretentious and frilly ("prissy"). Cilla is kind of a cool nn for it, though.

I don't particularly like it, mostly because it sounds "prissy" to me, so I guess I just don't like the sound of it. I don't hugely dislike it, though. Cilla is kind of cute, but sounds a little too much like "silly" for me...

I used to think that Priscilla was just another prissy name, but I've grown to like it over the years. Cilla is a cute nn; it takes away the whole "Pris" aspect. Very cute. I'm in the mood for makin some combos, so here goes:
Priscilla Rose
Priscilla Anne / Ann
Priscilla Marie
Priscilla Jae / Rae / May (you get the idea)
Priscilla Therese
Priscilla Olive
Priscilla Violet
Priscilla Jean / Jeanne
Priscilla Christine

I understand, but I just thought I'd say something because it was a really touchy subject yesterday. If you don't want to offend anyone, next time you could say that it's just not your style or something of that nature. Thanks :)I don't see no shine,

OK, I get itStill nms is not what I wanted to describe. I wanted to explain my associations with the name, to give more information than "nms". I will avoid using trashy from now on. Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
