I like/love these: (guessing on some of the pronunciations)
Ailsa - AYL-sah. Love it.
Iona - eye-OH-nah, love it
Islay - This and Isla are pronounced EYE-lah. I prefer the Isla spelling, obviously, but I like both. :b

I live in Scotland, and have only heard Iona and Islay (normally spelt Isla -- they are pronounced the same). Also Skye; those three are very popular just now. Ailsa is more popular on older women. I'd use any of those four, but most of those you listed don't work as names in my eyes.Kerrera would be pretty in theory, but I don't know what would happen to it in an accent that doesn't roll its R's. Rather than Taransay, I'd just use Taran -- the name of the saint after whom the island was named._____________________________________________________________________Elinor

I love Ailsa and Iona and would most definetly use them. Others I like, but would never use, are Isay, Tanera, and Vaila.

Although I do think some of them (besides those in the database) would work as names, the only one I might actually use is Vaila.

As I don't know how to properly pronounce any of those, I can't judge them. But isn't Skye also a scottish island? (skye boat song) Anyway, I also like the scottish town of Airdrie. That would be a pretty name.Michelle
