Re: Clarissa - EDITED
I've thought of the show, but I think that's been long enough that it's not the immediate association, unlike with Clarice, when everyone will start talking about fava beans and chianti.

I don't think of that when I hear Clarice. But I do instantly think of the show. Nothing wrong with that though. I survived a childhood of "Are you named after Amelia Bedelia?" It's really not as bad as you think, having pop culture associations.~~~

You assume I think pop culture associations are bad. Not true, just that I don't want it to be the first thing that comes to mind. I actually prefer the Clarice association because I think her job is wonderful and I have a personal relation with it, but I'm more a realist than a sentimental, and I know that the SotL jokes would be never ending, that's all.ETA that Clarissa is growing on me as a I read Mrs. Dalloway, so while it's not a pop culture association, it would probably be my association.

I wasn't assuming that. I was just stating that I don't think they're bad. For the last part, I was saying that in general, for anybody who happened to be reading it. Sorry, should have been more clear.~~~
