My dh has wanted to use Jane for one of our dds for years. While he loves it, Jane has never done much for me. I especially dislike the Jayne spelling. It's as if people want to dress it up so it won't seem so plain. That's just my $.02.

Its ok only as a MN if it sounds really good. Like Catie Jayne or something. I hate Jane. It's boring..

Yes, I do. It's a lovely name with a history and plenty of literary figures and authors with this name (Jane Eyre and Jane Austen). Jane is short, sweet, and not at all boring.

Jane is a great name in my opinion; like others have said it isn't as "plain" as it used to be.

I love Jane! Not so keen on Jayne, since it seems like Ja-ayyyyy-ne, whereas Jane is just this smooth, pretty ring. I probably wouldn't like it as much if I hadn't read the book Jane Eyre.~~~

I love Jane . . .It's fresh these days, as it's been out of the top 100 in most countries for a long time. It has a lovely Victorian charm like a lot of the other names that are becoming popular at the moment (Violet, Ada, Rose etc). If I wasn't set on using Jean for a daughter after my grandmother, Jane would definitely be on my list.Jayne isn't a spelling I'm fond of, although it's the name of a relative of mine who I like, so I don't mind it for that reason.By the way, it's considered 'bad form' to just randomly bash names on this board. I'm not telling you to do anything, but you might want to consider a more polite way to find out peoples' opinions in the future.
