Meredith
This has been on my short-list for the past year. Dh does not like it and I know it's one of those you either love or hate.Dh loves Juliet. I just don't think I love enough for a first name. We had discussed these names:Meredith Juliet
Meredith Cait
Meredith Leigh(My middle name is Leigh, Cait is Irish like our son's name, hubby likes Juliet).(I like the nickname Mary/Merry...is Mary too far a stretch for Meredith)?(And, do you think it ties in with my son's name at all, Connor James...I've read in a few places it's Gaelic but others that it just stems from Welsh. Connor is Irish Celtic.)

I really like Meredith and had no idea it was viewed as a male name by some. In the US though, I would feel safe saying it is considered very much a girl's name. Meredith Leigh is so pretty. You could also try Meredith Cait Leigh. I'm not usually into double mn's but I like this.

I like Juliet but not as a mn with Meredith. It almost sounds like it rhymes. I prefer Meredith Cait or Meredith Leigh.

I like Meredith Cait the best. Cait is sweet, simple, and it sounds great with Meredith.

I'm going to have to side with your DH here - I don't like it, but I love Juliet. I love the name Mary though, so I'd think that would be a perfect nn. I think Meredith Juliet is the best of those combos.

I like the combo Meredith Juliet, but Meredith on it's own is not my fave on a girl. Love it on a boy though. I do like Juliet for a girl on it's own. I like Merry for a nn too.-------------------------------------------------

Meredith is a male name to me: Meredith is still considered male in Wales, I believe, and Maredudd or Maredydd, the original form of the name, is still exclusively male everywhere. EDIT: Also, six kings named Maredudd or Maredydd ruled various parts of Wales in Dark and Middle Ages. That said, of your three combos I think Meredith Cait sounds the best; but I prefer Cait spelled Kate or Cate. Meredith Leigh is too gender ambiguous, while Meredith Juliet just doesn't flow well to me. Meredith Julie would be a better choice imo, when it comes to flow.Merry is a more natural, less confusing spelling for the name Meredith imo.
