Cygnet
Absolutely no? Or do you think that Cygnet could work? Yes, I'm aware that a cygnet is a baby swan, and that doesn't bother me, because:
A) I like swans
and, more importantly,
B) The name would be for "Cygnet Committee" by David Bowie
I'm thinking of it as a middle name for a girl. Whaddya say? :) Combo ideas?

I actually
really like it a lot! I like swans, and baby swans are undeniably precious.
There are tons of other bird names out there, anyway. Wren, Starling, Linnet, Kestrel, etc.
I can't see any problem with Cygnet for a girl's mn.

It's better than Piglet or Puppy.
Personally I think naming humans after baby animals is too cutesy but you get points for choosing an uncommon one and for sticking it in the mn position. At least it's not Fawn or Kitten.

I live on Cygnet Drive. I don't think it'd make a good name for anyone, but if it is used, a middle name would be best.

I think it's really cute. I didn't know it's the word for a baby swan, but, well, you learn something new every day. And it'd definitely work (how many people have already made how many names work?). And it'll work as a middle name too, who knows middle names?
Clarisse Cygnet (elegant)
Zahira Cygnet
Zuleika Cygnet
Macaria Cygnet
Mara Cygnet
Mercia Cygnet
Maren Cygnet
Ligeia Cygnet
Aglaia Cygnet
Gaia Cygnet
Thelma Cygnet
I don't know if you like any of those names except Zuleika, but they seemed to fit.

That's pretty cool, actually. I admit that when I first saw it, the only though I could form was "eugh . . ." But as I thought on it, it became for attractive. I like that it's the word for a baby swan, too, and a David Bowie song (which sadly I have not heard).
Some random combos:
Zelda Cygnet
Veronica Cygnet
Rosemary Cygnet
Eliza Cygnet
Ophelia Cygnet

The song is on Space Oddity, widely regarded as his first album. (His real first album is a steaming pile and, at least in my house, we pretend that it doesn't exist, lol.) Space Oddity is an amazing album and if you don't own it, you should--you may do as I did and fall in love with Janine and Hermione. ;) (Janine, I love enough to use. Hermione, not so much. But "Janine" and "Letter to Hermione" are both great songs.) Thanks to it, I also love Freecloud, lol.
...Just, trust me. Buy yourself a copy of it. No David Bowie fan is complete without the song "Memory of a Free Festival."
I really like Zelda Cygnet--the way it looks is really cool! Veronica and Rosemary both sound lovely with it, too, but I've gone off Rosemary a bit lately. (I think it's because it's been popping up here a lot, alas.) Eliza is one that I have horrible associations with, unfortunately. And Ophelia...well, on the one hand, I adore it. On the other hand, I adore it most for other peoples' kids, I think. :)
Thanks for the thoughts and the ideas!

I think I'll definitely get that album. I am, unfortunately, penniless at the moment--but I'm sure one of my parents would be willing to pay for it. :) I fully expect to fall in love with those names, too, as I have a severe tendency to instantly love any name I hear from a favorite artist (or read from a favorite author, for that matter). It just seems to make them amazingly appealing all of the sudden. I already like Hermione as it is, and Janine is rather pretty.
I'm glad you like Zelda Cygnet. I think that's my favorite of the suggestions I made, coming just before Rosemary and Eliza. It's a shame you have such bad associations with the latter name. Ah, well, I suppose it can't be helped.

Please no! Maybe the baby swan connection isn't so bad, but to me the David Bowie song connection does bother me!
On the question of the song...
Is the problem you have with the content of the song, or the fact that it's by David Bowie? If it's the latter, I'm afraid I'll have to disregard the comment--you are talking to someone who would name a baby after Ziggy Stardust, after all. ;)

I just think "signet ring." but if it's a mn, okay...
*laurel*
*laurel*
It's not appealing to me, but I guess it could work as a mn.
Signet . . .
was the first thing I thought of, like the ring. I don't find the look or sound of Cygnet particularly appealing personally, but I could see it as a girl's MN.
Wit has truth in it; wisecracking is simply calisthenics with words.

Is that pronounced "SIG-net"?
Middle name only, I think. It could work, but only with the right first name. I'm not thinking of any right now, try me again later.

Yep, pronunced SIG-net.
Part of the reason I think I could get away with it is because my parents (okay, my dad, most of whose ideas were scrapped, lol) considered both Sigrid and Sigourney (no, not even kidding--he likes the actress, lol) for one of my younger sisters. So there's something of a familial precedent for "sig" names. ;)

Honestly, I think the name Sigourney is *so cool*. What did the sister end up being named?
I think Sigourney is pretty darned cool, too, and I wouldn't be surprised if she named a kid that, lol. She's said before that she'd rather be Sigourney than Sara. If you were a Sara born in 1990, you'd feel the same way. ;)
