A question for you, and anyone else who's into Sailor
in reply to a message by Luxiana
It struck me as funny the other day that Sailor is getting to be kind of popular around here, but when celebrity baby names come up, Pilot Inspektor will inevitably make the 'awful' list. What exactly is it that makes Sailor more appealing than Pilot? At least pilots don't have quite as filthy a reputation as sailors. :-P
I have to add that I'll fully admit that the Inspektor part is kind of a name killer, but just consider my question with the first name in mind!
Ah, the prayers of millions, how
they must fight and destroy each other
on their way to the throne of God.

I just like it
I think Pilot is in the same vein as Sailor and Piper too for that matter. the combo Pilot Inspektor doesn't work for me because it's hard to use two word names together. it has something to it, but a bit too strange for me. though I admire the boldness and creativity.
I don't think Sailor is liked by even half the people on here. there always seems to be just as many people that dislike it. I think it just keeps getting mentioned by the people who do like it.
I kindof like Pilot. but as to why I like it more than Sailor, just personal preference I guess.
the name seems adventurous to me. the idea of a Sailor is a bit of a romantic idea, a person who travels on water from place to place. I know sailors have a vulgar reputation, so I don't really like that connotation.
I just like the idea of a girl named Sailor (or Georgie or Frankie). there's something very cool about a girl with a boys name (or in this case a typically male occupational name). she's tough, but also very feminine. she's sweet, but you wouldn't want to cross her.
wow long post, but you did ask :]
