Re: Ashley or Emily

Oops. I'm the odd one out, I chose Ashley.
Please don't kill me.
A while ago I would have picked Emily, because all I associated it with was a smart protagonist in a children's book I read (can't remember what book now). Besides, I like M's to the point you could say I have a sickness.
I'm not really sure why I picked Ashley; I like it about the same as Emily and it has the same popularity "problem." And I don't like the -shl- sound at all.
I guess I'd just rather be named Ashley myself, if I was forced to choose. It's more modest and more powerful sounding to me. Emily sounds bossy and insecure compared to Ashley. Emily gets called Emmy, too, which I can't stand; while you could call Ashley Ash.
