Jasmine
I've given this name some criticism in the past, so I thought I'd mention now that it's beginning to grow on me (no pun intended). I think my main problem with it was due to knowing some rather nasty-acting girls with the name, but I've just met a Jasmine who was everything they weren't and it's made me see the name in a different light. Are there any names that you've had a turn around on because of new people you've met or for other reasons?Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Mandy (on its own, not as a NN) is one that I changed my mind about. I can't really think of any others off the top of my head.By the way, I love the name Jasmine! It's one of my personal faves...gorgeous & feminine :)

Jasmine is a lovely name ; )I can't think of any examples at the moment, but yes I've had a turn around on names after meeting someone with that name. However, I still have many judgements about several names.

Ursula. I used to only think of the witch in the Little Mermaid, but when George of the Jungle came out (I was eight or nine at this time) and had a beautiful and smart character named Ursula, I fell in love with it.Myrtle. It grew on me after reading Harry Potter.Jane. I thought it was boring until reading Jane Eyre. Bianca. Loved this name throughout my childhood, and then in high school I met this really horrible girl named Bianca. Ah well, maybe I'll get over that with time.-the warrior girl and her dragon lover-

Jasmine is okay, but I much prefer Jessamine, which sounds prettier to me.I always thought of Tiffany and Crystal as trashy names but I know both a Tiffany and a Crystal who are anything but trashy, and are really sweet. I like the name Tiffany but I'd never use it, mainly because of the trashy associations.

Anna / Ana. I thought it's so dull - but all the bearers I know are really friendly and interesting and pretty. So it has a lot more dimension than it otherwise would.Bruce. It is my dad's name and I always thought, ugh - but when I started to think about using it as a son's middle name, it starts to seem really cool.Betty / Bette / Bettina / Betsy. I guess after I heard Bettina on a younger person, the appeal of these became more perceptible.Chelsea. Just had to see it on an ordinary person, and it's really neat.Names I might like more, if not for bearers I disliked: Wendy, Lisa, Greg, Kristen, Gina, Nancy.- mirfak

I think Jasmine's a very pretty name, pretty flower and scent too.
I do tend to associate it with strippers or playmates, and also I know of several cats and a dog who have the name. For that reason I doubt very much I'd ever use it, but I do like it.

I hated the name TYSON because it reminded me of chicken but I met a hot senior when I was a freshmen who's name was Tyson!
I hated the name Axel because of the band GNR but I met a guy who's name was also Axel and I didn't hate it as much.
I loved the name Cosmo (like off of Sinfeld) but then for some reason a met and began hating a girl who was WAY into astrology and now I hate the name COSMO.

Oh, I've definitely started to feel better about names for having met a cool bearer. The name Mandy, for example, seems interesting again when resting on the shoulders of someone terribly cynical. I really like Jasmine, but then, I've always associated it with Seals and Crofts' "Summer Breeze." Besides that, jasmine is a lovely scent and is a beautiful flower (though I've never seen a real one). It's one of those names where I hope maybe I'll have a granddaughter with the name or something, because I was born too close the the era of multitudes of Jasmines to have the courage to seriously consider it. ;)Array
