Chase on a girl?
Someone on my birth board named their girl, Chase Mackenzie. I thought at first that it was a boy until I read her post. WDYT?I personally am against boy becoming girl names, so I don't like it. I think that's one child that everyone will assume is a boy when the see or hear the name. prn EH-vah =)

I have known/known of 2 girls named Chase. I don't care for it on either sex, but esp. not on a girl. But I wish that parents who do use unisex names would clarify with the other name (fn or mn) as to the gender. For instance, Chase Mackenzie the girl could be Chase Madeline or Chase Mackenzie the boy could be Chase Matthew. Then at least those of us reading the BA's would be confused at first glance to their gender. LOL.

I don't see why not, Chase is a verb. So to me it's unisex.I don't like it for either gender, but I don't see why it can be used on a girl. Mackenzie however I adore only for a boy.

I don't care for it. But I also dislike the name on a boy. It always sounds like a command to me. Chase Mackenzie. Why is Mackenzie running away? One of the female designers on Trading Spaces a few years ago was named Chase. And she was in her late 20s or so, so unless she changed her name later, her parents were way ahead of the times. I grew up with a girl named Tyler. We're in our early 30s now. Back when we were kids, Tyler was unheard of, even for boys. So it seemed weird because it was weird. Not because it was a boy's name. I wonder if that was true for Trading Spaces Chase too.

The designer's full name is Chayse Dacoda, and I think that's extremely unlikely to be the name she was born with. I can't find any reference to Dacoda as anyone's surname on Google except for this woman. I think she created "Chayse Dacoda" as a "designer" name to go along with her public persona.

I agree with you. I can't stand male names on girls. There are so few nice boys' names, and they're all being turned into girls' names! I don't like Chase or Mackenzie anyway, but on a girl I like them even less.-the warrior girl and her dragon lover-

Ditto you. I don't like it.If they were set on using one unisex/boy name, they should have used a more feminine counterpoint. I dislike both names on their own anyway, though, and I don't like when names switch gender.

I much prefer Chase Mackenzie on a boy. On a girl, it's nmsaa.

I don't like it at all. I think of Chase Manhattan Bank when I hear it.

I don't like it all. I dislike boys' names given to girls and sirnames given to anyone.

I personally prefer Chase on a boy. However, the name has been regularly used by a few parents in the USA for girls every year since 1995, when Nicole Kidman played the character Chase Meridian in the film Batman Forever.

I used to love the name Mackenzie - on a boy! It's horrible on a girl.Chase is just a... bad name. I don't like it, at all, never have, never will - on either sex. It's worse on a girl, though. And yes, I would assume that was a boy.
