I really like Vanessa. My cousin who is 1 is named Vanessa Claire. I don't think it is old fashioned at all. I love the nn Nessa or Nessie~~Kelsey~~

Vanessa is quite pretty, but I personally wouldn't use it. It's nice for someone else's child though. I don't think it's too old fashioned at all. I think it's a name that's ripe for revival actually. I'd probably use the nn Nessa. I also like Jenna and Jamie. Both are great names.

Nn's include Nessa, Ness, Vanna, Vannie, Essie
Jenna and Jamie are okay. I love Jamie on a boy, as a nn.Kristen~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Sorry, but they all ring '90s to me. Vanessa is one of those names that just fades into the background. I don't like Jenna mostly because of its relation to Jennifer, but also because it just sounds like a bratty girl who snaps her chewing gum too loudly while on her cell phone, which she is rarely without. Sorry. Jamie is just boring to me.

I don't think Vanessa is old-fashioned at all. I like Vanessa because of its meaning, it being a V name, and because it reminds me of Vanessa Carlton. I think it's cute, but it's versatile and will age well.I wouldn't use any nns for Vanessa if I had a daughter named this besides the occasional affectionate Van or Nessa or Ness.I don't like Jenna at all. It makes me think of names like Tiffany and other trendy 80's names.I like Jamie. For some reason, I always have. I like it as a girl's full name. I think of the Weezer song "Jamie". =)

Neither Vanessa nor Jenna strikes me as old-fashioned at all.Vanessa isn't really my style, but it's quite pretty. I like Jenna a lot.I think Jamie is cute as a nickname for a boy names James. I don't really like it as a full name or on a girl.-- Sarah
