Gemma/Jemma

WDYT of Gemma or Jemma? I think I'm leaning towards Gemma, but WDYT of both/ which do you prefer. Do you think that Gemma/Jemma needs a "full" name? Thanks in advance!

I love both! Either one could be a NN for Jemima, I suppose...I've loved Jemma/Gemma for a while now, and both forms are on my PNL. I've been seeing a lot of "Gemma" lately in the form of Gemma Ward, as she is everywhere nowadays. But I think that name is very, very nice. One of my faves!

I'm not a fan of Gemma, because it was popular here (in England) in the 80s so seems really dated to me. I prefer Gemma to Jemma though

Ok. i LOVE both of them. they are both different imo even tho they are so silimar.i don't think they need a "full" name, but if you want them...Jemima (nn Jemma)
...
Can't think of any more!!! :O
I think i like Gemma a bit more too. But it'd be good as a full name. It sort of reminds me of Emma, which i like, but has a different slant on it. the nn Gem is cute! :)

I love this name, always have. I prefer Gemma to Jemma, just because of the "Gem" thing. Jemma is pretty too though. I don't think it needs a full name, Gemma/Jemma is fine on it's own.

I like Gemma as a full name on its own. I prefer it to Jemma, but not for any real reason. Maybe because of the "gem" in it, just looks prettier. :b

I think that Gemma is a gorgeous name on its own and doesn't need to be a nn for anything.
I love Gemma, but I don't like Jemma at all.Love is the lord of the house within him and rules all the concerns of his soul- Plato

I think it stands fine on it's own. I much prefer Gemma. Jemma looks overly hickish to me. Some hickish names appeal, some don't. Plus, J's seem trendy and I don't like most J names! Except Julia, and James, and maybe a few more! Well, actually a lot more, but nothing like Jazzalyn or anything! jemma could be grouped near Jazzalyn, and Gemma seems much more, original? And prettier! :)

I think Gemma is the better spelling and that it can definitely stand on its own. Dreams are necessary to life.

I really dislike it personally--it falls in with Mia and Poppy as a Brit-chic sort of name, and those grind my gears. ;) I wouldn't object to seeing it on a little girl, though. It's a good sight better than Nevaehlyn, after all! I think that Gemma and Jemma are full enough names in themselves. I'd go with Jemma, personally, because I'd pronunce Gemma as GEH-muh, with a hard G as in "goat." And that's not the sound you're looking for. (I far prefer G's that sound like "guh" to G's that sound like "juh," but I'm mostly alone in that. I'd really love Gillian if I knew thatpeople wouldn't pronunce it exactly like Jillian, sigh.) Plus, with Jemma, you can call her Jem. Who doesn't want to share their name with an 80s cartoon rockstar? :DArray

I don't really like Gemma, but I think Jemma is cute as a NN for Jemima, which I also really like. I don't think it NEEDS it, but I like it better.

I don't really like the name even as a nn, but I would say give it a longer full name at least.

I prefer Gemma. I don't believe that it needs to be a nn for a 'full' name. It's a nice name on its own.Jemma is nice as well, but I like how Gemma looks much better. Jemma reminds me too much of Jenna.**~**~**~**~**~**~**
