Vittoria?
I was flipping channels and stopped on "Surviving Motherhood" on TLC and this was one of the little girls name. I don't like it and it would drive me crazy having to always correct people and saying "No, not Victoria, it's Vittoria, with a T, not a C"Edit: Wow, I didn't even check, but I thought this name was made-up. :p I still would go with Victoria. prn EH-vah =)

I so wanted (still do, actually) my DD's name to be Vittoria, b/c I despise the nn Vicky / Vicki. *shudders* I figured I could avoid all that, "No, she not Vicki, she's Tori." by just naming the girl Vittoria. Actually, the combo I had picked out was Vittoria Korrine. Our surname also has double letters in the middle, so it looked really interesting to me, something like Vittoria Korrine Little. However, my DH hated Vittoria & wanted her mn to be Kathleen. I acquiesed, but now I wish I'd at least stuck to my guns on Vittoria. I'm sure it's a beautiful, classic name if you live in Italy, but in an English-speaking country I think the hassle from constantly being mistaken for Victoria would outweigh any of the refreshing qualities Vittoria brings.Personally, I like the English version of this name better, anyway.

I like Vittoria a lot more than Victoria. There is a boy in my grade whose family is Italian and his name is Vittorio. He goes by Vito. =) I think they're both great, Italian names.

Historical noteLet's not forget, other than being the Italian equivalent of Victoria and victory, it's also the name of the first ship to circumnavigate the globe - the only one of Magellan's convoy that made it back in one piece.

Vittoria..I Like it but it's true. I would HATE having to explain to people the difference it has with "Victoria". Nice name but too much work.

I went to school with a girl called Vittoria, she was Italian. She went by Vic though. The local bus company had Victoria misspelt as Vittoria for long enough on a bus stop but they have corrected it (however they still have Helena misspelt as Helana)I prefer Victoria though, the double -tt- looks harsh to me.

Vittoria is very pretty and quite legitimate. I will admit that the child probably would have to correct people on a continual basis. But I think it's a bit nicer than Victoria : )

I like Vittoria better than Victoria. But then, I absolutely can't stand Victoria, so pretty much every other form of the name is the one I prefer. :)It'd be a serious pain to have a daughter named Vittoria in a world of Victorias, though.Array
