Do you like this name?
I'm not sure why, but one of my favorite names is Candace. I like the sound and meaning, but it seems to be unpopular today because of the nickname Candy. But with Cadence becoming more popular, why not Candace again? What are your thoughts on it?

I thought it was unpopular because it was used in a sexual joke.Candace is alright, but I very much prefer Cadence.

Candace isn't very pretty, and Candy sounds too sweet. I think it could come back in 20 years or so, but I'm not very confident. I think there are better candidates for a resurgence (in the US): Mariel, Lucinda, Betty, Charlene, Melinda, Diane, Maybelle, Leanne, Belinda, or anything else.
It's very southern, classy to me. I can hear someone saying: "My aunt Candace bakes the best pies"
It might be biased. There's Candace from Phinneas and Ferb, and then there's Candace Owens. I have no other associations.
Funnily enough, I must be one of the few people who actually likes the nickname Candy! Bit it isn't inevitable. If you don't want Candy, you could have Andy or not bother with a nickname at all. But, if you really hate Candy, I would agree with others on here to use it only as a middle name. I love the name Elizabeth, but could never use it because I am not keen on Lizzie as a nickname. You have to like the common shortened version of the name you are choosing, I think.
I read a book where the MC's names was Candace, and she went by Cannie/Canny (I can't remember the spelling) instead of Candy. I thought that was a nice sounding name. It seems like a lot of folks really hate Candy as a NN, so Cannie/Canny could be an alternative.
Candace is really pretty! I know a mom named Candace. Candy is not a good nickname, but it's not a turnoff for the entire name.I also know a little girl named Cadence. Slight difference, but I like it too.
Candace is pleasant; Candy is nasty. So, Candace is safe to use, but only as a mn.
It feels dated and Candy thing really throws me off. And Cadence isn't getting popular, it apparently had a quick surge but is already well on its war back.

Cadence/Kaydence - i've heard this name so often that I can't believe it's not more popular.

I think Candace just needs a bit more time to rest, and that's why it's unpopular. Most Candaces I know are around my age, in their 40s. I can see how someone very young might like it, if they don't know any Candaces, but it's a very boring name to me. Interestingly, despite knowing a ton of Candaces growing up, none of them used Candy, and I don't remember it ever being an issue for anyone. I actually kinda like Candy for that reason, it's still got some sparkle.
I agree with Janan that it would make a nice middle name, it feels more fresh and unexpected there.
Candace still feels very dated to me. Most of the Candace's I know are in their 50s, and I don't sub anymore so I don't know if it's coming back as a honoring name... I don't dislike it. It just feels very 70s/80s. I like the nickname Candy but can get why others wouldn't. I prefer the nn to the full name lol
I like Candace, always have. It's not popular now mainly because it hit its peak in the seventies, and that's really not enough time for a name to fall out of style and then come back.
I dislike Candy very much. It's a very cliched "tacky woman" name, and very dated as such too. A modern stripper probably would think Candy is a very lame stage name. (She'd sooner choose Cadence.)
I agree which is why I think Candace would make a lovely middle, to avoid Candy.Melanie Candace
Rebecca Candace
Amy Candace
Georgia Candace
Helen Candace
Naomi Candace
Anna Candace
Ruby Candace
Eva Candace
Natalie Candace
Juliet Candace
Emma CandaceIn my opinion it goes well with lots of names!
