Names from the newest "Hunger Games" book
No spoilers for the book, please, as I haven't finished it yet. These are the names of the tributes from the current "Hunger Games" book. The names often become more popular as the book series is very well known. After the release of the first few books Primrose became really popular in the UK and Rue rose quite a bit, too. There were a few girls named Katniss as well. Other names such as Gale and Peeta didn't become popular, but Clove did rise a little bit, which I found surprising and I think Cato as well, which didn't surprise me much. I think Peeta's sister was Posy, which is cute, but she didn't have a big part.Anyway, here are the new names. Which ones do you like? Which ones could get popular and have potential? Comments appreciated :)DISTRICT 1Panache (b)

Heartwood!! I love it.
Panache is funny because I can imagine that catching on.Other ones I sort of like are Alpheus, Nona, Autumn, Camilla, Lenore Dove. The rest are interesting as worldbuilding choices.I have met a Silke IRL (sounds similar to Silka). Also I've met...

I really like Autumn and Camilla. Suzanne Collins is very creative with naming her characters. Even though I wouldn’t personally use many of the names I like it that she creates names that seem to go along with the industry the district represents.
I just have to say, I love the names Suzanne Collins uses, it's like she's able to channel my 13-year-old self, who would have LOVED all these wacky names. Maybe Collins tries to pick the most bizarre names she can because she regrets that people named their children Katniss and Rue, and she doesn't actually want any innocent children saddled with names from her books. So she comes up with Panache, Urchin, Tile and Peeler. Lenore Dove is really pretty though. And I love Louella and Midge.District 9 is positively normal. I went to school with a Clayton and a Ryan.
I think back then Katniss was almost as unusual as Tile and Peeler. I remember people making fun of it and writing things like "cat nip" and "cat p*ss) even on this board. And there were more unusual ones that didn't catch on in the first books as well such as Glimmer, Marvel, Thresh, Gloss, Lyme, Woof, Seeder and Cashmere. So I doubt this was her intention, she probably genuinely likes the names or finds them interesting at least.
I like Camilla, Ryan, and Wyatt. Nona reminds me too much of “Nonna”, which is what I call my grandmother.
I'm not familiar with the books at all. Of the names you've listed, I quite like Camilla, I would like Barba if it were Barbara, and I once knew a very nice Clayton. Janus, Louella and Merrilee are pleasant enough, but I wouldn't use them myself.
Haymitch is a surprise! A form of Hamish, perhaps?
I think she combined Hamish and Mitch (Mitchell), but I'm not sure :)
I would guess Haywood was also an influence.
