Charlesly/Charlesleigh
My gf and I are kind of liking the name "Charlesly" even though it has a lot of elements neither of us usually like. I won't use names that end in the "ee" sound (think Hailey, Melanie, etc). We both normally hate the Utah-esque, modern "creative" names that are really popular right now (Hazleigh, Bryxton, etc). Despite all this, Charlesly has started becoming an actual consideration for a future baby name. The problem now is that we disagree on spelling. She likes "Charlesleigh." I think that leans too far into the aforementioned Utah Modern territory. I prefer "Charlesly."Here is a poll if you like clicking buttons and seeing percentages: https://www.behindthename.com/polls/440478

Not a fan. Both spellings look ridiculous.
Sounds like an adverb for “in a Charles-like way.”
you can do better ...Charlesley and especially Charlesleigh just scream "I'm trying soooo hard to be funky and out-there by making up what sounds like a last name in a British cozy mystery and sticking it on a baby girl with the leigh ending so she'll stand out among all the Everleighs and Hartleighs and Mackinleighs in her day-care, which is definitely not in Utah but it sure sounds that way."
I’m not a fan of either name. Sorry. Why not Charlotte or even Charlene?
Charlene is stunning and deserves more love!
Charlotte is a lovely classic name. Why not go with that? Also, it would look bad on a job application, ages poorly, and it is hard to spell. I would 100% choose something else. Sorry.
Please do not.
Problem 1: adding -ly to a word can make it an adverb: That was quick -> You did it quickly.
Problem 2: you haven't specified a gender. Both of them seem to be fem, but -leigh can hardly ever be masc, certainly not where I live.
Problem 3: if a boy, why not Charles?
Problem 4: if a girl, why not Charlene or Charlotte?
Problem 5: Charlesleigh looks like a name for an upmarket housing estate or apartment block.

I think it's hideous, sorry.
Is this a joke?
Apparently, yes :-/I was reading all these comments to my girlfriend, and I started typing a response, and she said "Be careful, you might get banned for trolling." And I said "Well, it's the truth, so it's not trolling," and this led to a discussion in which I realized she had not been serious at all about using the name Charlesly.Sorry, I did not realize this was such a joke. I thought we were being at least semi-serious when we were having discussions about this potential name for the last few days. But it turns out she was being completely unserious this whole time, whereas I thought it had started out as a bit but that it had really started to grow on us. She liked it, or so I thought, so I started to like it too. Feeling pretty embarrassed right now.
