Re: Which is better

I dislike month and jewel names, and vastly prefer Serena to Selena. Which leaves me with Jennie. I like it as a nn for Jennifer, but prefer it with a -y ending. My good friend's sister Jenny probably influences me there.
Month names: it's a big planet with two hemispheres. My son was born in September, which made him an autumn baby since we were in England at the time. Back in South Africa, he became a spring baby. May is sort-of OK, since it's also a verb and a flower. April throws me as a name: I always expect to hear 'apron' instead. I dislike the whiney sound of June. Other month 'names' are simply silly.
Thinking about June, perhaps that -u- sound also puts me off Ruby as well. But I really don't enjoy Pearl, Opal, Amber ... adding Selena to the mix, I think it's 'thing' names that I'm not keen on. Selena is better than Luna, but not good enough.
