Julie
Hello everyone :)
Does Julie still feel dated to you? Do you like it? I think it kind of fits in between Sophie, Sadie etc. But it used to be popular in the 60s and 70s, so the Julies are mostly not the grandparent generation yet. Maybe it's too early for a comeback? To me it doesn't feel dated anymore. I think it stayed in the top 100 until the early 90s.
I personally like it as a full name, but it could be a short form.
Could you comment, please?
Julie
Julia
Julianne
Juliana
Juliet
Juliette
Which one is your favorite? How would you imagine a girl with these names?
Some more uncommon ones:
Julina
Julissa

I prefer Julie to Julia myself. It gives off a warm and friendly girl-next-door vibe. I also like Juliana and Juliet.
I guess looking at the chart it should seem dated, but it's never seemed so to me. I do think it's kind of like Sophie, although admittedly in the 90s (knowing a millennial Julie) I was more familiar with Julie than I was with Sophie (I remember hearing Sophie for the 1st time in an animated 90s movie; the character was kind of silly and had a French accent). And I get a vibe from it that's similar to April (so, springy/cheerful? vintage in the US but maybe not dowdy).
Julie, Julia, Juliana are all about the same to me; it'd probably depend on the flow of the combo. Juliet seems elegant but too associated with Romeo & Juliet for me, and I guess because of that, the Juliette spelling looks weird. Julianne does seem dated, but I don't dislike it - it's better than Julienne which can seem foody.
1. Julie, Julia, Juliana
2. Juliet
3. Julianne
4. Juliette
Eta: I like Julissa, maybe more than Julianne. I've met a young one (brunette, my previous boss Minerva's granddaughter). Also fyi my cousin has a kid named Julia who is in elementary school; she's cute - um, a brunette, does martial arts and likes cooking, doesn't use a nickname although her mother calls her Juju sometimes. The Julie I knew as a kid was also brunette; she had sisters with other J names, was popular in school, was fun to be around and now I think she works at a university (as a counselor or maybe something to do with writing? idk exactly).
I dislike Julina. I guess it seems smushed because I expect Juliana.

Julie’s lovely! I think I prefer it to Julia, which has always felt cold to me. I think Juliet is my favorite of the Jul- names, though I’m also partial to Julian on a girl.
Julie is really cute. I think it should come back, it doesn't feel quite so dated anymore. You're right in that it fits in with the resurgence of Sophie and Ellie and Claire and stuff. I used to find it boring in that underwhelming, workaday 70's kind of way, but now it feels fresh and romantic yet down to earth. It's a friendly, studious sort of name to me.
Julie is a full name to me, but I like Julianne a lot too. Juliet as well, but only in small doses.

I like it better than Julia; it feels more down to earth and not prissy. Julia has always made me think of a spinster with her mouth all pursed up in distaste. Who knows why?
I think Julie kind of is dated. It is sort of similar in style to Sophie, for instance, but the thing is, when Julie was very popular, Sophie, and Sadie and such were not popular at all and were actually thought of as grandma names.
I like Julie as a full name, but my favorite name with that sound is Julissa.
