For what it's worth, it's also possible some transliteration that just ended up getting stuck in place.I have an ancestor named Anders, and naturally there was an Anderson somewhere in the surname mix. Anders is a Scandinavian form of Andrew, so it's not hard to see where someone might have anglicized or de-anglicized a name.Anderson and Andrews are honestly very close, and some far more creative surname changes occurred when immigrants arrived in the United States a century ago.
