Hey ya'll, I'm not dead. Grad school is just time consuming and hard. I'm a little bit dead inside. Lighten my mood by telling me all about the names on your mind lately. Names you like. Name you question. Whichever. Go nuts 😆 the only stipulation is you have to explain Why it's been on your mind. I'll share later.

Some of them aren't necessarily medieval, but have a nice ring in a fantasy world.

Carmela! My Italian grandmother's name was Carmella/Carmel, but she died when I was very little, so I have no memories of her. I find the name lovely and lilting despite being freighted with the cultural connotation of mob wives.
I've also been thinking a lot about Ingeborg because I'm reading Ingeborg Bachmann's sole novel, Malina. I love how bulky the name sounds in English.

I met an Amethyst once as well! In Florida. I was tickled pink I was so excited. We didn't talk long though. She was maybe in her 30s or 40s I believe.
Edit: I'm misremembering. It was actually Amaryllis that I am thinking of. Close in uniqueness and similarlity but no cigar.

I once met a woman named Gay. It May have been Gaye with an E, I can't remember for sure. She was born to hippies during the 1960s and it was supposed to be in association with happiness as opposed to homosexuality. I wonder what her feelings are about her name? I wonder if it has had an impact on her social views? I used to work in geriatrics and have also known a few Dicks. Interesting to see in person as they will soon be extinct I imagine. Like seeing the last Tasmanian tiger.
