Middle names for Anne
I'm reading a book, and the main character is Anne, so the name is growing on me. What middle name would you give Anne?

Replies

Years ago I thought Anne Isadora was a lovely combo, but it didn't get a very good reaction when I made a poll about it. Well I still think it's nice!I might pair Anne with something gutsy, heavy, dark, or over the top. Something to give it a bit of oomph.Anne Ariadne
Anne Octavia
Anne Emmeline
Anne Belinda
Anne Ethelinda
Anne Morrigan
Anne Gwendolyn
Anne Lavender
Anne VivienneBut then I also like really simple or fluffy things with Anne, because it's so cute and sweet.Anne Sophie
Anne Elise
Anne Mabel
Anne Emily
Anne Lucy
Anne Billie
Anne Poppy
Anne Ruby
Anne Zinnia
I'd pair it with a less common name and a bit longer for balance I think. Maybe 2 mnsAnne Rosaline
Anne Philomena
Anne HildegardAnne Vera Josephine
I agree, a florid middle name would be nice.Anne Philomena is interesting!

I like Anne Louise, and Anne Margaret (or course, she is the famous Swedish actress, though she spells her first name Ann).

What a commonplace, blasé reply.

Interesting, isn't it? That single syllable is so dominant! Anne Louise is beautiful; Anne Eloise, not so much. An unstressed first syllable seems to be the way to go:
Anne Felicity
Anne Victoria
Anne Elizabeth
Anne Penelope
Anne Denise
Anne Cecile
Anne Marie
A relative, a century ago, was named Anne Florence after her grandmother and aunt. Perhaps it's because I'm used to it, but that seems to work OK.
Anne Devereaux
Anne Marie
Anne Thea
Anne Felicity
Anne Sophia
Anne Salem
Anne Briar
Anne Artemis
Anne Cecily
Anne Octavia
Anne Davina
Anne Harlow
Anne Katya
Anne Perrie
Anne Sterling
Anne Valériane
Wouldn't Anne Valériane be overly matchy-matchy? Assuming you pronounce Valériane Valerie Ann?
Anne Perrie is insteresting!
Anne Matilda
Anne Louisa
Anne Marigold
Anne Celeste
Anne Lucille
Anne Sophie
Anne Cordelia
Anne Virginia
Anne Désirée
Anne Felicity
Anne Juliet
Anne Delilah
Anne Clover
Definitely Marie. Anne Marie is so pretty if she goes by the combo.
