Pets names
What have you named your pets in the past? I have had 4 cats my whole life, Maksym "Maks", Fyodor, Akim "Akimushka", and Aleksey "Alyosha".
The first three were my parents' cats when I lived with them. We didn't call Fyodor any short names because he was a very serious cat. Unlike him we call Aleksey "Alyosha" almost every time. I don't know where my parents got their cat names from, but my cat Alyosha was named in honour of Aleksey Navalnyy. What are your pets named? Is there any reason?
If you got another (any kind) what would you name them? If I got another (male) I would name them Ivar or Włodzimierz (cyrillicised as Vlodzhimyesh) because I really like those names but I wouldn't name a kid that because people in my country don't use those names. If I got a girl pet I would name them Svyatlana (after Tsikhanouskaya) to go with Aleksey.

My sister's been naming her Guinea pigs alphabetically which I think is pretty neat.As of right now, we've had:
- Jewel
- Kleo
- Latte
- Mickey
- Nico
- Ollie
- Peanut
- QuartzThere were a few before (Journey, Sparkles, Starla, Lolly, Cake, Oreo, Evie, Chocolate) but they were all before she started the naming trend. We've also had budgies (Tinsle, Satin, and Sapphire), chickens (Beatrix and Blossom), goldfish (Silver-Fin and Orange), a lamb (Basil), cats (Toby, Bob, and Barbie), and a dog (Charlie).

My first ever puppy was Whitey (she was a golden retriever, but was stolen a month after I got her, lol); then, I named my next dog Daisy (she was born by one of our old dogs, Goldie, a golden retriever. Daisy was a white lab, and she passed away at 5 years old); I was obsessed with the name Daisy (I still love it), and it matched her white fur. Finally, I named my last dog Belle and her "sister" (they both came as strays to our yard when I was 8- they were most likely hunting dogs) April; they were both chocolate labs. I had a great love for the name Isabella (I still love it), and her brown fur reminded me of "Beauty and The Beast". I also had a calico kitten named Nina for a couple of weeks (I am sadly allergic to cat dander. She was adopted with the name Nina, and I loved it, so I kept it. I do still love the name Nina), and a glofish tetra that I named Mango (because she was a yellow-orangey color) for two years.
My current cats are Wanda and Binx. My former cats were Armando, Santini " Tini", and Ares. I've had dogs named Dutch and Sargent. Some dogs I've known were named Bruno, Sparky, and Beau. I love the name Ivar for a pet, but then I'd also like Ivar for a human.
I also like Ivar on a human, just on a Scandinavian human. It would probably also be fine in an English speaking place and maybe German speaking place? It's not that it's unusable where I live, Ivar is easy to say, it's just that there's probably 10 people in the whole country called Ivar so it's very very not used here.
That makes the name more unique!
My cat is called Clara - she was named by my mother after Clara from Isabel Allende's House of the Spirits.

I've previously had a few "family pets" that were named by my parents or my siblings. They were simple names like Danny, Gizmo, or Abby. I'm not personally fond of human names on animals except for very specific circumstances (EX I think "Chad" and "Kevin" are kind of funny names for a cat, and "Mario" would be a fun name for a mustache cat) and I usually like either food names or cutesy names. Something something, rate my cat names list. My two current cats are named Kosher and Mochi. Kosher was his name when we adopted him- I thought it was cute and couldn't think of something better so I kept it. Mochi I named on my own because she's soft and squishy, just like real mochi.
Isn't kosher a thing about Jewish rules?

Their names are very human-like to me haha
Alyosha is really cute :)Currently I have a cat named Milo (after the movie 'Milo and Otis'), a cockatiel named Rudy, and a parrotlet named Mochi (like the dessert). In the past I had:
-two cockatiels named Tweetie and one named Taji (supposedly 'crown' in Farsi)
-parakeets named Thomas "Tommy", Jennifer "Jenny" and Baby Pickles "Baby"
-Lovebirds named Mango and Kiwi
-a small black dog named ShadowYes my sister and I weren't very creative with our childhood pets' names lol
My pets all have/had human names. I like the name Taji it's very cool

I've always lived with pet. As far back as I can remember, there was always some type of pet in the house. So suffice to say, I grew up with various animals. Without a doubt, most were cats, but there were also a few others. (A little turtle, a couple of fish, budgies, ferrets, and even a tarantula at some point named spongebob eight legs)The only pets that were mine were these felines:Snowball (cat. Can you guess the color? 😅)

Diamond (My childhood cat. I had her for 16 years. Watched her being born when I was around 8, had to say goodbye to her at 24) My older sister suggested the name and it just stuck. Ones I have now and the ones pictured are Lydia & Josephine "Josie" I chose these names because I absolutely love them. Nothing to it than that. I like Aleksey, Maksym & Fyodor. 🙂

Snowball... hmmm, I wonder if it was white? I like Josephine and Lydia. "Josie" is a nice nickname. I don't usually like names that have a dzh sound in them, but Josephine and Josie don't bother me.
Correct! 😅 All white just like the mother was. And thank you.

For future animals, it would depend on the type and look. I have had a ton of animals throughout the years. I'm sure I will be forgetting some cats, as we had many barn cats when I was a kid. My sister gave some of our childhood barn cats horrible names.Dogs:
Tara (parents named before I was born)
T-Bone
Sadie Lou (already named when we adopted her)Hamster:
Buttons Turtles:
Speedy
Squirt (from Finding Nemo)Cats:
Skittles (I was a toddler)
Pepper
Jasper (my sister wanted to name him Grandpa Baseball)
Buddy
Tiger
Smokey
- These four were Pepper's kittens that my sister named when she was about 5.
1. Chocolate
2. Gray Skies
3. Squirrel
4. Mixer
Snowball
Snowflake
Prince Houdini (Started as Princess until we realized it was a boy, changed to Prince and then Houdini got added because he kept getting out of the locked crate
Punkin - my grandma's cat that was inherited when she passed. He's orange and she pronounced pumpkin like Punkin.
Definitely missing some cats.Fish:
Bingo
Bubbles
Rojo
Phantom
Frankenstein
I'm missing one.Edit: I remembered a few more.

I like Tara and Jasper. Punkin looks like a surname to me :) I checked on forebears and it seems that it is a surname, but a quite rare one.
