What do you think of Spanish names?
What are your favourite names from this list? And those you dislike/hate?
Note that the names in the chart lack accents (for instance, Lucia and Nicolas should be Lucía and Nicolás).
“Dear optimist, pessimist, and realist – while you guys were busy arguing about the glass of wine, I drank it! Sincerely, the opportunist!”

Fun fact: Ares is used for both boys and girls in Spain. As a masculine name, it refers to the Greek god of war, while as a feminine name it's a Marian name referring to a sanctuary in Catalonia.
I’m more interested in your reflections as a Spaniard! Are there any surprises or names you’re excited to see appear on the lists?
Overall, the Spanish name list focuses on trendy names (Enzo, Thiago, Gael; Noa, Triana, India) while also keeping classics used throughout the years (Manuel, Gonzalo, Nicolás; Sofía, Paula, Ana). Besides, names from Spain's co-official languages are usually present in the list, with Catalan (Marc, Biel; Laia, Ona), Basque (Iker, Julen; Leire, Ainara) and, less often, Galician (Brais, Anxo; Iria, Sabela). English (Izan, Noah, Liam; Mía, Chloe, Isabella) and Arabic (Adam, Mohamed, Amir; Nour, Yasmin, Layan) borrowings also play a major role.
Spanish parents tend to choose short names, especially for girls (Leo, Marco, Pol, Nil, Aday; Lara, Zoe, Ona, Iris, Lía). There is also a trend of using short forms as full names, with Lola and Nico being the most notable examples.

Very interesting! Thanks for sharing this information. I would love to see Flora, Xenia, Leonor, Angélica, and Igor on the charts!
