"almost perfect middle name, neutral and classic but also elegant" - that is true, however it's basically the same thing as saying it's a "filler" middle. Almost anything goes with it... because it has so little personality of its own.
It's even more bland than Mary. Mary at least has some grit to it. Elizabeth is more posh. It poshifies, but without pretentiousness because it's so familiar and "nice" that I hardly even notice it. It's like real wood in home decor.
I'm not finding fault with it exactly, and would not mind having it as a middle name.
I would not say it's lacking in imagination, but it does lack individuality.
I enjoy names too much to waste an opportunity by using Elizabeth.
