Yes, diminutives as full names was very common. Names like Annie, Eliza, Fanny, Tom, Dick and yes, Harry, were all in the top 100 for Victorian-born babies.Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you criticize him, you're a mile away and you have his shoes!
