Esmeralda
A recent obsession of mine. I met two women at my college with this name, one of whom went by Esme. I think it's beautiful. What do you think of Esmeralda?

Replies

I can't stress how much I love this name. It is a bit too princess for me to use in real life. I like Esme as a NN for this and in general. (I also am reminded of Emerald, which I also really like).
It's a little over the top.
Not a fan, it’s too out there and too associated with the Notre Dame character. I much prefer Emerald.
Don't like it at all
I think it's beautiful.
Esmeralda is very pretty, but I do prefer just Esme.
It's beautiful, but I feel like it could be an awkward name for a girl to wear if *she's* not conventionally beautiful. Like, a shy, plain Esmeralda would seem sadder and weirder than a shy, plain Emily. Esme is a good nickname option, though.
True, but that's what nicknames are for when a name is long and dramatic. Essie, Ezi, Mera, and Alda would all be fine for a shy, plain person.
It's way too much name. Therefore I love it and would happily use it. I also love Esperanza!
I like it but I would never use it. It’s too much.
I don’t tend to like fancy names(though I love Anastasia). It feels too over the top, but I like Esme.
Not uncommon in my area, and it's truly pretty. I like Esme as a nickname, and love the English and French versions Emerald and Émeraude, especially the latter.
Long and complicated, and not really worth the effort. I don't enjoy jewel names, but Emerald would be better. I vastly prefer Esme as a full name.
I used to like it, but have kind of cooled on it. I still think it's got a pretty sound, but it's got a little too much of a stagey, theatrical, cartoonish vibe to me.
