Names I've removed from my PNL
My PNL has always looked quite daunting, being 400 names long and all. Today, I decided to organize them by gender. I now have Character Names (M), (F), and (X). On top of that, they're all able to be rated! I decided that I really shouldn't care what other people think about the names I like.
Organizing my list has also made me evaluate every name on it more intently, and as such, I've dropped a lot of them. In no particular order, here are all the ones I've decided I don't like anymore, and have since removed:
Carmen
Lark
Holly
Indira
Guiomar
Diamond
Flannery
Stormy
Lake
Desdemona
Kit
Grier
Flavia
Janet
Lilith

Carmen - I like it but almost never think about it. Good for a character in a contemporary setting.
Lark - I like this, I'd use it as a middle name or for a cat.
Holly - Also like this but for a contemporary character (a bit too dated for a baby).
Indira - Love this, very pretty and dramatic. Could be a character in a wider variety of settings since it sounds a bit fantastical.
Guiomar - I never hear this! It sounds cool. I didn't know it was unisex, I thought it sounded all masculine.
Diamond - Too cheesy. I'm not sure why considering I like Emerald, Pearl, Jade, Ruby, Onyx, and even Obsidian as names, but that's how it is for me!
Flannery - Good as a middle name if there's a namesake behind it.
Stormy - Cheesy, but good for a gray cat. Even then I would use Storm nn Stormy, bot just Stormy.
Lake - I like sticking this in as a middle name for longer boys names where nothing else fits and the imagery of a lake seems to fit.
Desdemona - Love this name but it is barely usable since it has one big association (who dies) and not much else.
Kit - I've known one Kit, I think it was short for Katherine. It's cute and a little retro but not really my style.
Grier - Just a random surname, doesn't even sound remotely like a first name
Flavia - I like this. "Fla" isn't my favorite sound but it can be nice in the right combo.
Janet - I've known a lot of nice Janets but I don't care about the name at all. I like Jane and Joan.
Lilith - Has a reputation for being edgy but I like it, it has a nice mix of soft and serious sounds.

Indira is gorgeous. It is one of the most beautiful names. Because I'm not connected to India, I rarely include it on lists of my favorites.
Holly sounds loveable.
Grier is interesting, but autocorrect keeps wanting to change it to grief.
Flavia has a special spot in my heart because of Flavia de Luce.
Carmen Sandiego. Was she ever found?

I voted on your three Character lists and also I couldn't resist voting on your cat list too.🐱

I'm always so curious about why people feel the need to cleanse their lists. Is it because the lists are curated for a specific reason, like for a future child or pet?
Guiomar is fun, I like that. And Desdemona, always badass!
Janet is adorable for a little kid, I've decided. It's finally happening: I'm old enough to start appreciating Boomer classics on babies.

The purpose of my lists is to easily choose names for characters. If there's a name I don't like, I won't use it, so there's no point keeping it on the list anymore. To me, they're just clutter.
I like Carmen, Flavia, and Lilith.
