I don't think you're insane. I have a suspicion that most of the people who use polls are pretty young and are just goofing off. And the anonymous nature of polls allows people to be unserious with them. It's a perfect storm for producing wonky results. They probably *are* messing around with the results, but it's just because they are being dumb kids and they see the polls as a game or a toy and it's fun for them to see how their vote changes things. It's annoying and I understand why you'd be bothered by it. I don't know why some people are taking your annoyance so personally. I'm not surprised that Theron is more popular than Abraham, if my hunch that most poll respondents are bored teenagers is right. They don't care about the history of Abraham - Theron is a "cooler" name.
